Terms of Service
Last updated October 18, 2026
These Terms of Service govern use of Zennifi Bus, a school bus attendance and guardian-notification service operated by ZENNIFI LLC. By enrolling a child, signing in, or using any part of the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Effective date: October 18, 2026.
Read this part first
Zennifi Bus records what the bus committee tells it and sends messages about it. It does not watch your child, it does not check who collects your child, and it cannot promise that a message reaches you. Never treat the absence of a message as confirmation that your child is safe, is on the bus, or has been dropped off. If something is urgent, contact the bus committee directly.
Who provides the service
ZENNIFI LLC builds, hosts, and operates the software. The volunteer bus committee operates the buses, employs or organizes the drivers and monitors, decides the routes and stops, and is responsible for the accuracy of the roster and of the attendance information entered into the service. ZENNIFI LLC does not drive a bus, does not supervise children, and does not make operational decisions about routes, stops, or who rides.
What the service does
Zennifi Bus keeps one authoritative list of which children are expected on which run, lets guardians mark a child as not riding, lets a monitor record who actually boarded, and sends guardians text and app notifications about their own child's run. As later features are switched on it also shows the live position and an estimated arrival time for a bus while its run is in progress, and supports boarding check-in and seating on the bus device (a phone or tablet the monitor uses on the bus), and lets a guardian book a paid seat for their child's friend. Message types and frequency are described in our SMS Consent Notice.
What the service is not
This section is the most important one in these terms, and every part of it is a real limit on what the software does.
- It does not verify who collects a child. Zennifi Bus never checks the identity of the adult who meets a child at a stop, never authorizes anyone to receive a child, and holds no list of approved pickup people. Deciding who may collect a child is entirely the responsibility of the guardian and the bus committee.
- It is not a custody, guardianship, or dismissal system. It does not enforce custody arrangements, court orders, or restraining orders. It does not control or record school dismissal. The relationship labels and permissions inside it are an operational convenience for the bus, not a legal determination of anything.
- It is not a child tracking service. The location feature reports the position of a bus during a run. It does not report the position of any child or any guardian. A child may be on that bus or may not be, and the software knows only what was recorded.
- It is not an emergency or safety system. It does not call for help, does not monitor anything continuously, and must never be relied on in an emergency. In an emergency, call the relevant emergency services.
- It is not a school record system. It is not operated by a school, does not exchange data with a school information system, and its records are not school records.
- A boarding record is a record, not a guarantee. Boarding status is entered by a monitor, or recorded when a child taps the bus device, and it can be wrong. It is a working record for the committee, not proof of where a child is at any moment.
Notifications are not guaranteed
We work to deliver notifications promptly, but delivery depends on wireless carriers, carrier filtering, your device, your notification settings, network coverage along the route, and other conditions outside our control. Buses pass through areas with no signal. Phones silence notifications. Carriers delay and sometimes drop messages.
We therefore do not guarantee that any notification will be delivered, that it will arrive within any particular time, or that it will arrive in the order events happened. The absence of a message is never confirmation of anything. If you did not get a message, that may mean nothing happened, or it may mean the message did not reach you. Do not infer that your child boarded, did not board, was dropped off, or is safe, from silence. Check in the app, or contact the bus committee.
Estimated arrival times are estimates
Where the service shows a live map or an estimated arrival, that estimate is computed from the last known position of the bus and a traffic-aware routing estimate. It will be wrong sometimes. When the bus has not reported a position recently, the service says so rather than guessing, and it does not extrapolate a position it has not received. Treat the map and the ETA as informational only, and do not send a child to wait at a stop on the strength of a countdown.
How children check on and off the bus
Each child gets a small tag. Your child taps it on the bus device (a phone or tablet the monitor uses on the bus) when getting on and when getting off, and the device records the time and the stop. Checking on and off takes no picture. The bus device can take safety photos, as described in our Privacy Policy, which sets this out in full.
Accounts and eligibility
Accounts are for adults. To create a guardian account you must be at least 18 and be a parent or guardian of, or an adult authorized by a parent or guardian of, an enrolled child. Children do not have accounts and cannot sign in. The only thing a child does in the service is tap their tag or their own photo on the supervised bus device.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your sign-in and any monitor PIN confidential, and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used by someone else. Some guardians are given view-only access by the guardian who manages a child's record, and view-only access cannot make changes.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to access another guardian's or another child's information, or another organization's data
- Share, republish, or post information about another family's child, including photographs, that you see in the service
- Enter information you know to be false, or mark another family's child
- Interfere with, probe, overload, or reverse engineer the service, or use it through automated means
- Book a guest seat for another family's child without that child's parent's permission
- Remove, damage, or tamper with the bus device or other equipment on a bus
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
Text messages
Text messages are sent only to guardians who opt in. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe and HELP for help. Stopping text messages does not remove a child from the bus roster.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect about guardians and children, what we collect directly from children, how long we keep it, who else processes it, and the rights guardians have. It forms part of these terms.
Suspension and ending use
You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to close your account. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms, who puts another family's information at risk, or where the bus committee tells us that a family is no longer enrolled. Whether a child rides the bus is a decision for the bus committee, not for us.
Disclaimers
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, except where such a disclaimer is not permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, that records entered into it are accurate, or that notifications will be delivered.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ZENNIFI LLC and the bus committee are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from a delayed, undelivered, or inaccurate notification, an inaccurate boarding or absence record, an inaccurate estimated arrival time, or an interruption of the service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case the limitations above apply only as far as that law allows.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify ZENNIFI LLC against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the service, from information you enter that you had no right to enter, or from your breach of these terms. This does not apply to anything caused by our own negligence or wrongdoing.
Changes to the service or these terms
We may update the service and these terms. If we make a material change to these terms we will update the date at the top of this page and notify guardians in the app or by text message before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and where disputes are heard
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Broward County, Florida, and you and we consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing here prevents either party from bringing a qualifying claim in small claims court.
The rest
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a successor to our business. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the SMS Consent Notice, are the entire agreement between you and ZENNIFI LLC about the service.
